James Bond is dead. In almost every way. On the one hand, because right now there is no actor in the role of the iconic 007 agent after Daniel Craig's farewell in No time to die. On the other, because the new stage of the MI6 spy will "reinvent" the character. This has been advanced by Barbara Broccoli, producer of the franchise on the character created by Ian Fleming.
No time to die Release date October 1, 2021 | 2h 43min Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga With Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux, Rami Malek, Christoph Waltz, Ana de Armas Media 4.3 Users 3.8 Sensacine 4.0 Watch on Amazon Prime Video "There is no candidate", Broccoli begins during an event honoring his career and that of his stepbrother and fellow producer Michael G. Wilson (via Deadline). "We're thinking about where to go with him, we're talking about it. There's no script and we can't think of one until we decide how we're going to approach the next movie because it's really a reinvention of Bond. We're reinventing who he is and that." It takes time," he continues.
To finish her statements, the producer has advanced that it will be a few years before the next James Bond movie, with the debut of a new actor in the role of agent 007, puts its cameras in operation. "There are at least two years left to shoot," she concludes.
The eternal question when there is a vacancy in the role of James Bond is who will become the new MI6 spy. As Broccoli has highlighted, at the moment they do not have any candidates. Fans, meanwhile, already have some favorites like Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba. However, until the producers of the franchise decide what they are going to do with the character in this new stage of reinvention, casting the perfect actor for the role seems unthinkable.
Craig brought Agent 007 to life in five installments. He said goodbye to the role forever in 2021 with the premiere of No time to die. The movie put the finishing touch to his stage as the character with his sacrifice. Killing off the protagonist is something that hasn't happened before in the franchise.
Ultimately, nothing is certain yet. The only thing confirmed is that James Bond will return to the big screen at some point.
